Our Average Travel Times for the Buses at Disney’s Old Key West
One of the most significant benefits of staying at a Walt Disney World Resort is having access to complimentary transportation options to popular destinations. When you stay at Disney’s Old Key West, those options include the resort’s bus service and an additional water taxi service to Disney Springs. For this article, we want to focus on how long the buses take to travel to these destinations.
Unfortunately, we can’t estimate how long you’ll have to wait for the bus. But we can share the average time it takes to travel from Disney’s Old Key West to the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and Disney Springs. We’ve tracked these routes (multiple times) to come up with a fair average.
Disney’s Old Key West has five bus stops: Hospitality House (lobby), Peninsular Road, Old Turtle Pond Road, South Point Road, and Miller’s Road. After your arrival, you’ll want to locate the bus stop nearest your accommodations. You can take any theme park bus from your area to reach Hospitality House (the main lobby and recreation area). Hospitality House is the last stop before the theme park buses leave the resort. You can take the Disney Springs bus if you’re at Hospitality House and want to return to your resort area. It stops at Hospitality House first and then travels to each section of the resort. Miller Road is the last stop before the Disney Springs bus leaves the resort.
If you get to Hospitality House and the Disney Springs wait times sign says, “Take a water taxi,” you can ignore it. The sign is slightly misleading and will often change if you wait long enough. Regardless, the bus for Disney Springs is coming. (Every resort at Walt Disney World offers bus service to Disney Springs.)
The bus stops at Disney’s Old Key West are partially covered pavilions. But given the outdoor nature of the resort, you will have to walk outside to and from your room to reach them. Remember umbrellas and other rain gear in the event of rain.
Below, we’ve provided the average travel time from the last bus stop that leaves the resort to each destination. (The specifics for individual bus stops are available in our paid planning program.) Note that our travel times do not include how long we waited for the bus. Wait times signs are posted at the resort bus stop, indicating when the next bus will arrive. Again, these are the average of several trips and do not consider extenuating circumstances like significant traffic.
