Disney’s Kidani Village Transportation Guide

If you’re planning a stay at Disney’s Kidani Village, you’ll need to figure out how to get to and from the resort. Thankfully, it’s pretty simple. The resort only offers one mode of transportation: buses. We’ll give it a little slack, however, since the resort’s home to numerous species of African animals that live on its savannas. Given the amount of land needed to host so many animals, it’s only natural that the property sits to itself. Hence, the reason it only offers bus transportation.
Does this mean that Animal Kingdom is far away from everything else? No, but unfortunately, it gets that reputation. To put that into perspective for you, I lived on the Animal Kingdom Lodge side of Disney World for two years. It took an average of 10 minutes to get to Animal Kingdom from my condo, and 16 minutes to get to Epcot. So if you see someone complaining about the location, take it with a grain of salt. In the overall scheme of things, it’s not a significant difference.
Below, we’ll elaborate on how to get from Kidani Village to the theme parks, water parks, and other destinations. Of course, you will take the bus, but you’ll want to be aware of a few nuances. We’ll also discuss how to get between the two resort areas and a few other popular destinations around Disney World. I assume if you’re reading this, you know Kidani Village is a Disney Vacation Club Resort. It’s one of two separate resorts that comprise Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge. The other is Jambo House, a deluxe resort.

Kidani Village Transportation Options
The following forms of transportation are available at Disney’s Kidani Village:
Transportation Mode | Take to: |
---|---|
Disney Bus Service | Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, Disney Springs, Typhoon Lagoon, Blizzard Beach |
Walking Path | Between Kidani Village and Jambo House |
All of the routes we discuss below are based on our experience. Remember that transportation is subject to availability and hours of operation. We do not recommend resort transfers using complimentary transportation to get to another resort for an early breakfast reservation. It’s almost always better to take a car service like Lyft, Uber, or Minnie Van when traveling early in the morning.
Locating the Bus Stop at Kidani Village: The bus stop at Kidani Village is outside the resort’s lobby entrance. Once you exit the front door, you’ll take a left and follow the sidewalk to the bus stop. A secondary door on the Kudu Trail near the laundry room leads directly to the bus stop. The photo below shows the covered walkway from this door. You’ll want to use it when it’s raining.

Kidani Village to Magic Kingdom
Take a bus from Kidani Village to the Magic Kingdom. The bus to Magic Kingdom picks up at Kidani Village and then stops at Jambo House before heading to Magic Kingdom. On the return trip from Magic Kingdom, the bus driver will drop guests off in the same order: Kidani Village, Jambo House.
I don’t mean this in a condescending tone…but you’ll want to pay attention and exit at the right stop. It sounds like a no-brainer, but when you’re tired from a long day in the parks (and it’s dark outside), you might automatically think it’s time to exit when the bus finally stops.
Kidani Village to Epcot
Take a bus from Kidani Village to Epcot. This bus travels in the same order: Kidani Village, Jambo House, Epcot. On the return trip, Kidani Village is the first stop.
Kidani Village to Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Take a bus from Kidani Village to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. This bus follows the same order we’ve already discussed: Kidani Village, Jambo House, Hollywood Studios. Kidani Village will be the first stop on the return trip.
Kidani Village to Disney’s Animal Kingdom
Animal Kingdom is exceptionally close to Kidani Village. Unfortunately, however, you cannot walk between the resort and the theme park. Buses pick up in the same order we’ve already discussed: Kidani Village, Jambo House, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom. It’s a short, approximately five-minute ride to the park. However, the extra stop at Jambo House will take a few minutes if you’re coming from Kidani Village.

Kidani Village to Disney Springs
🚨 This route travels in the opposite direction. The Disney Springs bus picks up at Jambo House and then Kidani Village, before heading to Disney Springs. Therefore, on the return trip, the bus driver will drop guests off at Jambo House and then Kidani Village.
*An announcement always plays over the intercom, indicating the bus stop. It can, however, be difficult to hear when the bus is crowded.
Kidani Village to Disney’s Water Parks
When traveling to Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach, you’ll need to follow the instructions at the resort’s bus stop for which bus to take. Either a direct bus service will be provided, or you’ll have to take a transfer bus. The electronic sign at the bus stop will indicate which bus to take. Here’s how the transfer process works if direct bus service isn’t provided:
For Typhoon Lagoon, you’ll take the bus to Disney Springs. When you reach Disney Springs, you’ll exit that bus and board a transfer bus to Typhoon Lagoon. Someone is usually in the area to direct you to the correct bus stop. It’s only a short walk. Upon leaving, you’ll take a bus from Typhoon Lagoon back to Disney Springs. Then, you’ll have to walk a little further to find the Kidani Village (Animal Kingdom Lodge) bus stop at Disney Springs.
For Blizzard Beach, you’ll take a bus to Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Then, you’ll board a nearby transfer bus to Blizzard Beach. You’ll return in the same manner.
Kidani Village to the Monorail Resorts
Most guests will want to visit the monorail resorts for dining or touring. To do this, you can take a bus from Disney’s Animal Kingdom to Magic Kingdom. From there, you will have to walk through security at Magic Kingdom. Then you can walk, boat, or monorail to the following resorts:
- Disney’s Contemporary Resort (walk or monorail)
- Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa (walk, boat, monorail)
- Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort (boat, monorail, technically can walk via the Grand Floridian walkway to Magic Kingdom)
Alternatively, you can take a bus to Disney’s Animal Kingdom and then board a bus to any resort. (Make sure to consider the theme park’s hours of operation.)
Kidani Village to Epcot Resorts Area (BoardWalk)
You can take a bus from Kidani Village to Disney’s Hollywood Studios when traveling to the Boardwalk or the Epcot Resorts Area (Beach Club, Yacht Club, the Swan and Dolphin, and Fantasia Mini-Golf). From Hollywood Studios, you can walk or take a Friendship Boat to any of these destinations.
Alternatively, you can take a bus to Disney’s Animal Kingdom and then board a bus to any resort. (Make sure to consider the theme park’s hours of operation.)
Kidani Village to Disney’s Wilderness Lodge or Fort Wilderness
Take a bus from Kidani Village to Magic Kingdom. Then board another bus or a boat to Fort Wilderness or Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. (The bus is quicker since you’re already at the bus stop, but the boat is a wonderful way to travel if you’re not in a hurry.)
Alternatively, you can take a bus to Disney’s Animal Kingdom and then board a bus to any resort. (Make sure to consider the theme park’s hours of operation.)
Kidani Village to the Skyliner Resorts
If you want to ride the Disney Skyliner (for leisure), take a bus to Disney’s Hollywood Studios and board the Skyliner. We have a separate guide that details the Skyliner’s route. Stops on the Skyliner include Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, Art of Animation, Pop Century, Disney’s Riviera Resort, and Epcot’s International Gateway.
*Remember, these tips are subject to Disney’s transportation hours of operation.
Kidani Village Buses
Buses begin running approximately one hour before the theme parks open. That one hour includes early theme park hours for resort guests. Example: If a park opens at 9:00 a.m., early entry begins at 8:30 a.m. Therefore, the buses will begin running by 7:30 a.m. if not earlier.
Per Disney, buses continue to run up to an hour after the parks close. It has always been our experience that Disney will get you back to your resort at the end of the night. You do not have to be in a rush to leave the parks. Most of the major gift shops in the park remain open an hour after the park closes.
Disney’s buses accommodate guests with accessibility needs. All bus stops have a separate spot for guests in wheelchairs and ECVs to wait. You will be loaded first when the bus arrives, and last when the bus reaches the destination. Disney provides an overview of each form of transportation on their website. Wait Times for Buses
Over the years, we’ve had the pleasure of staying at Kidani Village many times. My only complaint about staying here is that the bus service can be slow. On the flip side, with the Animal Kingdom being so close, you can usually get between the resort and the park fairly quickly.
Signs are installed at each bus stop that indicate the estimated wait time for the next bus. These times are based on the bus’s proximity to the resort and are sent via Wi-Fi. While you’re waiting, you might see the wait for your desired location fluctuate. That could be because the bus stopped in traffic or at a light, or for other reasons. We have found that the posted arrival time is pretty accurate.

Shuttle Service Between Kidani Village and Jambo House
A shuttle runs between Jambo House and Kidani Village. You’ll want to let someone at the entrance of either resort know you’re taking it. A cast member will direct you where to stand and alert you when it arrives. A walking path is also available between the resorts. It takes approximately 10 minutes to walk from one resort’s lobby to the other.
