Getting To and From Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort (A Mini Pocket Guide)
Planning a Disney World vacation is a monumental task, and it’s challenging to remember everything you want and need to do ahead of time. Then once you arrive, you have to figure out transportation options. For instance, you might spend an entire week taking the bus from Fort Wilderness to Magic Kingdom and not know a secondary boat service is available. That would be a shame because there’s something a little extra special about arriving at Magic Kingdom by boat. With those thoughts in mind, we’ve created a mini pocket guide with transportation routes for Disney’s Fort Wilderness. It offers a quick reference for traveling to and from the resort to most destinations.
Major Disney Destinations
Disney provides complimentary transportation from Disney’s Fort Wilderness to the following destinations. Note that Fort Wilderness has many internal bus stops and two primary bus stops. The two primary bus stops are on opposite ends of the resort at the Settlement and the Outpost.
Destination | Transportation Mode |
---|---|
Magic Kingdom | Resort Bus Service or Boat (from the Settlement) |
EPCOT | Resort Bus Service (Outpost) |
Disney’s Hollywood Studios | Resort Bus Service (Outpost) |
Disney’s Animal Kingdom | Resort Bus Service (Outpost) |
Disney Springs | Resort Bus Service (Outpost) |
Blizzard Beach | Resort Bus Service (Transfer at Disney’s Animal Kingdom) (Outpost) |
Typhoon Lagoon | Resort Bus Service (Transfer at Disney Springs) (Outpost) |
Other Popular Destinations
You might also want to visit other popular locations like the resort hotels during your vacation. Most of these destinations require a transfer. Here are our suggestions for using complimentary transportation to get to these locations:
Wilderness Lodge: Take a bus from Fort Wilderness (Settlement) to Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. After 3:00 p.m., you can also take a boat from Fort Wilderness (Settlement) to the Wilderness Lodge.
Monorail Resorts (Grand Floridian, Polynesian Village, and Disney’s Contemporary Resorts): Take a bus or boat to Magic Kingdom. Board the resort monorail outside the park’s entrance to any of these resorts. (After 3:00 p.m., you can also take a boat to Disney’s Contemporary Resort from Fort Wilderness.)
Epcot Resorts (Beach Club, Yacht Club, BoardWalk, and Swan and Dolphin Resorts): Take a bus to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Then, boat or walk to these resorts.
Skyliner Resorts (Riviera, Caribbean Beach, Art of Animation, and Pop Century): Take a bus to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Then, take the Skyliner to any of these resorts.
Animal Kingdom Lodge: Take a boat or bus to Magic Kingdom. Then, take a bus to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge.
Other Disney Springs Resorts (Saratoga Springs, Port Orleans Riverside, Port Orleans French Quarter): Take a bus to Disney Springs and board a bus to any of these resorts. As an alternative, you can take a water taxi from Disney Springs to these resorts.
Things You Need to Know
Transportation at Disney World is subject to availability and operating hours. For example, taking a bus from a theme park to a resort earlier in the day can be challenging. In the morning, the priority is getting guests to the park. So, if a bus transfer is required before 10:00 a.m., we usually take a car service for breakfast reservations.
It’s also important to note that some routes we’ve shared offer alternative options. For example, if you’re visiting Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, you might prefer to take a bus to Disney’s Hollywood Studios and then take a bus directly to the hotel. We’ve tried to share the most straightforward ways.
