Staying at Disney’s Contemporary Resort? We Tracked the Average Bus Times From the Resort!
As you plan your Disney World vacation, you’ll want to be aware of the benefits available to resort guests. Perhaps the most significant benefit is complimentary transportation. You won’t have to deal with traffic, directions, or figuring out the logistics of parking. It’s especially nice not to have to find your car when you’re exhausted after a long day in the parks! You’ll hop on the bus and let Disney take care of the rest.
Those staying at Disney’s Contemporary can access three forms of complimentary transportation from the resort: the monorail, buses, and boats. (You can also walk to Magic Kingdom from this resort!) Regarding the buses, you’ll need to take them when visiting Hollywood Studios, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and Disney Springs. It’s also important to know that the Contemporary shares bus service to these destinations with Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. You’ll be the last stop on the way to the parks, so you’ll have an extra stop on the return trip. This is how the routes work:
- Disney’s Wilderness Lodge (1st Stop)
- Disney’s Contemporary Resort (2nd Stop)
- Disney’s Animal Kingdom (Destination)
on the return trip
- Disney’s Animal Kingdom (Board Bus)
- Disney’s Wilderness Lodge (1st Stop)
- Disney’s Contemporary Resort (Destination)
*Extra buses usually service both resorts around rope drop first thing in the morning. So, you might not always have that extra stop.
The Contemporary’s bus stop sits near the resort’s front entrance under a partially covered waiting area with a couple of benches. This is also where the walkway that extends to Magic Kingdom begins. If you’re unsure, a sign by the bus stop lists your options. (Note the resort boat service is not listed because it’s only available after 3:00 p.m. and travels to neighboring Wilderness Lodge and Fort Wilderness.)
Here are our bus travel times from Disney’s Contemporary Resort. It’s important to note that these times do not include how long we waited for the bus. Wait times signs are available at the resort bus stop, indicating when the next bus will arrive. The times below are how long it takes to get from the resort to the destination. They are the average of several trips and do not consider extenuating circumstances like significant traffic.
Buses From: | To: | Time: |
