The Resorts Gal Guide to Disney’s Wilderness Lodge’s Pools (with Photos)
During our stay at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, the weather was warm, and the pools were packed. So I woke up early one morning to take photos of the pools before the crowds hit! Below, we’ll preview those photos of the two pools at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. We’ll also discuss pool hours, amenities, and what you can expect during your vacation.
While we love staying at this resort, we prefer one pool. We suggest checking out both pools throughout your trip. Depending on your preferences, you might discover that you enjoy one of the pools better. Of course, what you like and I like may be entirely different. But that’s okay because they are both incredible pools in one of the most gorgeous settings!
The 2 Pools at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge
Disney’s Wilderness Lodge has two pools: a primary feature pool and a secondary feature pool. They are as follows:
- Copper Creek Springs Pool
- Boulder Ridge Cove Pool
Below, we’ll preview these pools, hot tubs, and the aquatic play area. These pools are close together, so you do not need a pool map. If you walk out of the resort’s back entrance, you’ll immediately run into the Copper Creek Springs Pool. Take a right by Geyser Point (the pool bar and lounge), and you’ll run directly into the Boulder Ridge Cove Pool.
Pool Details for Planning Your Vacation
The pools at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge have unique hours. The Copper Creek Springs Pool is open daily from 10:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. throughout a portion of the year. Those hours usually run from Labor Day until around Memorial Day. During the summer months, pool hours are usually extended until 11:00 p.m.
The Boulder Ridge Cove Pool is the resort’s secondary pool. This pool has posted hours between 7:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m. However, from our experience, this pool is always available for guests to use.
Complimentary towels are provided at both pools at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. So you can save the extra room in your suitcase to bring home souvenirs.
Complimentary life jackets in various sizes are available at every Walt Disney World pool.
Per Disney, pool lifts and other access options are available for guests with disabilities or limited mobility. Pool hours and lifeguard availability vary by pool and are subject to change.
Both pools at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge have nearby restrooms with showers and changing areas.
Here’s a look at the shower near the Boulder Ridge Cove Pool.
It is a fully accessible shower with a private changing area.
Built-in toiletries are available inside the shower.
Copper Creek Springs Pool Photos
Disney’s Wilderness Lodge is home to the Copper Creek Springs Pool, which sits between the resort and Bay Lake. This beautiful area can be seen from select water-view rooms. A couple of public viewing areas also look out to this view between the lobby and the resort’s fifth floor.
Remember to bring your MagicBand or Keys to the World Card when you visit the pool area. The pool has a scanner that keeps the gate locked, which is a good thing. Many day guests visit the resort to tour the grounds or for dining reservations. You would not want someone who was not staying at the resort to have access to the pools. Guests pay a considerable amount to stay at the Disney Resorts and have exclusive access to those amenities.
Here is a view of the pool, looking back to the resort. Poolside activities are held daily from approximately 1:00 p.m. until about 5:00 p.m. Recreation cast members play trivia games with pool guests. A few other activities are listed on the resort’s recreation calendar.
A gentle, sloping slide is partially hidden in a rock close to the pool.
The pool is uniquely shaped, with the deeper end extending toward the spring.
This area gets to about 5′ deep, which is the pool’s deepest point.
This is where Copper Creek runs into the pool. The creek begins in the lobby and flows down Copper Creek Falls before entering the pool. It exits the other side of the pool and flows out to Bay Lake, hence the name Copper Creek Springs Pool.
Waterslide at the Copper Creek Springs Pool
If you have smaller children, they will likely love the pool and its waterslide. The pool has a 67 ‘(foot) slide with a gentle curve. It’s an exceptionally mild slide.
A small slope leads up to the top of the slide.
A few rules are posted. Riders need to slide feet first, lying on their back only.
A traffic light sits at the top of the slide. When the light turns green, it’s your turn to go! Let’s go!!
Here, we have a view from the top of the slide as it winds back down to the pool.
The slide’s exit is 3’6″ deep, which is about the average for most of the slide exits. But I think most parents can appreciate the mild slide, and children love this sort of thing. It’s not intimidating, but the slide is still fast.
Aquatic Play Area at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge
The Copper Creek Springs Pool has an aquatic play area in a separately fenced area. These friendly water parks are for children who are less than 48″ in height.
I wish they’d had this sort of thing when my son was younger. They are so child-friendly and good for the parents as well.
Parents can find plenty of places to sit in full sun or shade around the splash area.
The water playground has two slides. So the little ones don’t feel left out if they can’t slide in the main pool.
Hot Tubs at the Copper Creek Springs Pool
A pair of hot tubs—one a hot spa and the other a cold whirlpool spa—sit between the aquatic play area and the feature pool.
I’ll let you figure out which one is the cold one! Speaking of cold, all the pools at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge are heated to a minimum of 82 degrees year-round. Pools remain open most of the year. When we have colder weather, the pools may close if the temperature drops below 55 degrees or so.
Geyser Point Bar and Grill Poolside Bar
Behind the pool area, you’ll find Geyser Point Bar and Grill. A walk-up window is available on the right side of the restaurant. This area also has a Rapid Fill mug station for resort mugs at the Wilderness Lodge. Cocktails, beer, and wine are also available to order at the bar. During this visit, I placed a mobile order for the charcuterie flatbread. It was delicious and easily shareable.

A couple of tables and chairs are available inside and outside the pool gates.
Boulder Ridge Cove Pool
A few steps away, guests will find the Boulder Ridge Cove Pool. This pool sits directly behind Boulder Ridge Villas, which opened in 2017 with Copper Creek Villas.
This is the pool we prefer because it has more shaded seating areas and is a little more laid-back than the feature pool. However, the resort could stand to have another pool on its grounds. Don’t let these photos fool you. These pools are often every bit as busy as the pools at Disney’s Polynesian, which are the worst!
A few pool rules are posted. The Boulder Ridge Cove Pool has a maximum depth of 4′ and 11″ (4 feet and 11 inches).
Another thing I love about this pool is that it’s surrounded by boulders. It’s probably the most private pool at Disney World. You can’t see into the pool area from the outside unless you’re standing at the gate.
Here’s a view of the pool.
This pool has a zero-depth entry on the opposite end.
It has fun theming elements throughout the pool area.
Many of the boulders provide privacy and shade. Water runs over them, helping keep the pavement cool.
This pool has six covered seating areas available on a first-come basis. If you’re going to spend a day at the pool, this is an excellent spot. However, you’ll want to get here early to snag a seat. (This is also a great place to enjoy breakfast!)
Here’s a look at the Boulder Ridge whirlpool tub. When I took these photos, a cast member told me that a couple of people were in the hot tub when he came into work at 5:00 a.m.
Overall, Disney’s Wilderness Lodge has two enjoyable pools. While we don’t rank this pool on our list of the best pools at Disney World, we don’t have any significant issues with it either. Our only real issue is that we wish the resort had another pool. Because if it’s hot outside, and it often is, many guests ditch the parks for a dip in the pool.
