Disney Announces 6 Gingerbread Displays for Walt Disney World in 2024
Disney has announced a list of six gingerbread houses and displays for the 2024 holiday season at Walt Disney World. This year’s display is a little extra special for one resort. It’s the Grand Floridian’s 25th year to host its stunning, life-size gingerbread house. For many, stopping by the Grand Floridian during the holiday season to see the display has become a time-honored tradition. Below, we’ll preview what to expect with each gingerbread display at Walt Disney World. If you visit the parks over the holidays, you can decide which ones to see and how to locate them.
List of Walt Disney World Gingerbread Displays
Here is a list of each gingerbread display at Walt Disney World:
- Spaceship Earth (New in 2024!)
- Animal Kingdom Lodge (Gingerbread Giraffe and Zebra)
- Disney’s Contemporary Resort (Gingerbread Castle)
- Disney’s Boardwalk Inn Gingerbread Display (The Boardwalk)
- Disney’s Beach Club Gingerbread Carousel
- Disney’s Grand Floridian Gingerbread House (Christmas Cottage)
Except for Epcot, the gingerbread displays are located at deluxe resorts.
New in 2024 Spaceship Earth Gingerbread Display
From the Disney Parks Blog: Starting November 29, EPCOT will be home to a brand-new creation: Gingerbread Spaceship Earth. This offering in CommuniCore Hall will feature Spaceship Earth in gingerbread form. The EPCOT Festival Team and Walt Disney Imagineering have teamed up with the talented EPCOT Pastry team to create this 8-foot-tall gingerbread display, which took over 160 hours. It even lights up and dances to music throughout the day.
The sphere itself is made up of almost a thousand handcrafted gingerbread triangles to mirror the iconic attraction. It contains 240 pounds of honey dough, 100 eggs, 100 ounces of lebkuchen spice, 55 pounds of dark chocolate, and 100 pounds of royal icing. For a final Disney touch, there are 11 hidden Mickeys to represent the 11 countries of the World Showcase.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge Gingerbread Giraffe and Zebra
At Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, you can see a unique gingerbread display that’s truly fitting for the resort. This display features two animals made from gingerbread and modeling chocolate. They are Ginger-affe, a gingerbread giraffe, and Debra, the gingerbread zebra. If you want to learn more, we have an article with photos of the gingerbread giraffe and zebra at Animal Kingdom Lodge. Gingerbread treats and several drink offerings are available at this location.
Per Disney: New this year, a limited-edition pin, cookie jar, and holiday ornament inspired by Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge are available for purchase.
This display will be available starting November 24, 2024.
Disney’s Contemporary Resort’s Gingerbread Castle
The gingerbread display at Disney’s Contemporary Resort returns in 2024! You might take the monorail from Magic Kingdom to visit the Contemporary. Once you exit the monorail, you’ll take the escalator or elevator down one floor to the Grand Concourse. The gingerbread castle sits near the back of the fourth floor near the bridge that leads to Bay Lake Tower. We have a post with photos of last year’s gingerbread castle at Disney’s Contemporary.
This display will be available starting November 8, 2024.
Disney’s Boardwalk Inn’s Gingerbread Display
Disney’s Boardwalk Inn’s gingerbread display offers a scaled version of the resort. The design features silhouettes of several favorite characters in the windows overlooking a boardwalk made of gingerbread. Our photo post from last year’s gingerbread display offers a preview of what to expect.
This display will officially debut on November 12, 2024.
Disney’s Beach Club’s Gingerbread Carousel
Every year, Disney’s Beach and Yacht Club chefs come together to decide on a new theme for the gingerbread carousel. This year, that theme is Mickey’s Christmas Carol. Last year’s carousel featured the DuckTales World Showcase Adventure in Epcot. You can preview that version to see more photos of what to expect.
Disney’s Grand Floridian’s Gingerbread House
Our next-to-last holiday gingerbread display at Walt Disney World is the grandest of them all. Given that this gingerbread house resides in the Grand Floridian, the word grand is fitting.
Per the Disney Parks Blog: This year, we’re celebrating 25 sweet years of the beloved Gingerbread House at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. Starting November 6, the iconic house that smells as good as it looks will be available for guests to bask in the holiday festivities. As you explore the various details of this incredible display, you’ll find white chocolate candy canes, edible snowflakes, sugar poinsettias, and an 88-pound white chocolate Santa. The gingerbread itself is baked with 1050 pounds of honey, 800 pounds of flour, and 600 pounds of confectioners’ sugar. The decorations feature 700 pounds of chocolate and feature over 10,000 pieces of gingerbread – yes, you heard that right. The team spends over 500 hours baking the gingerbread and 480 hours bringing all the dazzling details to life. To celebrate the 25 years of holiday tradition, there are 25 hidden Mickeys scattered throughout. See how many you can find!
There will also be a limited-edition collection of 25th anniversary merchandise including a pin, ornament, cookie jar, magnet, tumbler, t-shirt, and more available for purchase to commemorate your holiday memories.
This display formally opens on November 6, 2024. We have a separate article featuring a photo and video tour of the gingerbread display.
