Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Room Types (Photos and Details)
If you’re planning a stay at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, deciding which room type will work best can be challenging. This choice alone can be overwhelming, considering the resort is home to the Wilderness Lodge, Boulder Creek Villas, and Copper Creek Villas. All three of these resort areas offer multiple room types.
For this room review, we’ll focus on the room types at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, the resort’s primary hotel. First, we’ll discuss the available room types. Then, we’ll preview a regular room with two queen-size beds and a fireworks view. After that, we’ll share details from our most recent stay in a regular room with a king-size bed and a resort view.
Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Room Types
Disney’s Wilderness Lodge offers the following room types:
- Resort View
- Water View
- Fireworks View
- Resort View (King Bed)
- Water View (King Bed)
- Fireworks View (King Bed)
- Resort View (Club Level)
- Resort View (Club Level with King Bed)
- Deluxe Room (Club Level Access)
All regular rooms at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge average 340 square feet. Rooms with a king bed sleep up to two adults, while other rooms come with two queen-size beds, sleeping up to four adults. The deluxe room is larger and has a separate living area. It sleeps up to six adults.
If you’re looking for larger accommodations, you might consider Copper Creek or Boulder Ridge Villas, which are Disney Vacation Club Resorts. Those resort areas will have rooms ranging from deluxe studios to two-bedroom cabins and three-bedroom villas. We have a separate review of Copper Creek Villas.
Wilderness Lodge Fireworks View Room
We’ll start with a regular room with queen-size beds at the Wilderness Lodge. My friend Kristen was visiting with her family a few months ago and allowed me to take a few photos of their room before they got settled.
These rooms debuted a few years ago. The accent wall behind the beds is designed to look like a forest, which is fitting.
A built-in on the far end of each bed provides a shelf with a few outlets nearby.
All of the rooms in the hotel have solid surface flooring. The beds are platform-style, allowing room to store luggage underneath.
A dresser provides storage space and additional outlets across the top. All rooms have a flat-screen television.
A set of nesting tables with two chairs sits to the right of the dresser.
Each headboard has pin lights.
A nightstand sits between the two beds. Outlets and USB ports are available on each side.
A built-in provides a few shelves with Bambi accented in the artwork. A Keurig coffee maker is available, and a beverage cooler sits in a cabinet underneath.
Built-in closets provide plenty of room to hang clothing items.
Here is an overview of the guest bath.
Since the Wilderness Lodge is a deluxe resort, it has a vanity with two sinks and a separate water closet.
Here is a photo of the bathtub with shower combination. Some rooms have a walk-in shower, which we’ll preview further down.
A few toiletries are stored underneath the vanity, including a hairdryer.
Toiletries include lotion and hand soap. The shower has built-in dispensers containing body wash, shampoo, and conditioner.
A makeup mirror is always a nice amenity.
Here is the balcony with two chairs and a small table. It was pouring when I took these photos.
They had a room with a fireworks view that looked out to Magic Kingdom. I was impressed with the view. In the distance, you could see the monorail, Disney’s Contemporary Resort, and Cinderella Castle. This would be an excellent place to watch fireworks in the evening.
Wilderness Lodge Resort View Room (King Bed)
On our visit to Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, I reserved a king-size room with a resort view. Thankfully, the sun was shining when we arrived, so I had a lot of extra light to work with when taking photos. This room was gorgeous. But besides the king bed and an extra reading chair, there are not many differences between the two rooms.
Instead of a nightstand, this side of the bed had a desk with a chair.
You could use the desk as a vanity since a mirror hangs above it.
A Hey Disney! device was in the room. I have yet to use one. Eventually, I will try to get around to it.
Here is an alternate view of the space.
We hadn’t stayed in the hotel section of the resort since these new rooms debuted. They are now among my favorite rooms at Walt Disney World. We also love the Moana rooms at the Polynesian.
If you look closely, you’ll find Chip and Dale in the trees.
A chair with an ottoman sits in the far corner of the room. This makes for a lovely reading area.
Here are the same nesting tables we saw in the queen-size room. I turned one toward the television and had dinner in the room one evening. We rarely dine in the room since room service isn’t an option. But the Wilderness Lodge has several restaurants that offer mobile orders, which makes it easy to pick something up and return to the room.
This Paul Bunyan artwork made me smile. I remember watching this on the Disney Channel many moons ago.
The king-size bed has room to store luggage underneath.
I thought the headboards were a nice design and enjoyed leaning back against the soft padding.
Here are a few more photos of the room.
I was so happy to see the return of glassware and mugs. We stay in hotels almost every month, and this is the first time I’ve seen glasses since they were removed a few years back. Hopefully, they will return to all the deluxe resorts. I don’t know about you, but I want a real glass with ice for a soda or water when I’m in the room.
Rooms at the Wilderness Lodge all come with an in-room safe and a steam iron.
Here is the beverage cooler. Remember that these are designed to keep beverages chilled. They may not be suitable for perishable items. I have found that most of them are okay. But my drinks never feel ice cold like they do in my refrigerator at home.
Here is the closet. I was happy to see a luggage rack and plenty of room to hang items.
The bathroom was identical to the one we previewed earlier. This sedimentary rock artwork doubles as a light.
Here’s a closer look at the vanity. It has a ledge above the counter where you can keep your personal items that you use daily out of the way.
This room had a walk-in shower. If you prefer a specific type of bath or any other room request, you might use the chat feature in the My Disney Experience app a few days before check-in.
The shower has a large rainfall showerhead with a separate detachable showerhead.
Here are those built-in toiletries.
The shower also has a ledge, which helps when it comes to shaving your legs.
We see the same toiletries. Deluxe resorts used to have a small bottle of mouthwash. But I haven’t seen that lately.
We had a resort view room. Since this room was on the corner, the balcony was a bit larger than most.
It was a peaceful view, and I was surprised to be able to watch Magic Kingdom’s fireworks in the evening.
This was room number 4081 on the resort’s fourth floor. The front of the room faced the lobby. It was a quiet room. However, when Whispering Canyon Cafe opened for dinner, we could hear a good deal of noise between 5:00 and 8:00 p.m. This wasn’t a nuisance by any means, but I felt like we would have heard more dull banter if the lobby had been busier during our stay.

Final Thoughts
Overall, we enjoyed our stay, and I much prefer this room over the deluxe studio at Copper Creek Villas. However, they are supposed to be getting an update. We also rarely reserve a room with a king-size bed because it’s not ideal when offering resort room tours. Most guests travel with larger parties. So, the majority of rooms at Disney World have queen beds.
That said, I enjoyed the king-size bed and the extra space in the room, usually taken up by the other bed. It was a noticeable difference. So, if this type of room setup works for your party, I recommend it over the two queens.
