The 7 Off-Site Hotels Within Walking Distance of Disney Springs
As we continue our resort and transportation series centered around Disney Springs, I wanted to touch on the off-site hotels within walking distance of the venue. You may remember that we’ve already discussed the Disney-owned hotels in the Disney Springs Resort Area. Those four hotels offer water taxi service to Disney Springs. The hotels we’ll discuss in this guide are not owned and operated by Walt Disney World but are considered “official” Walt Disney World® Hotels.
In addition to being within walking distance of Disney Springs, these hotels all offer the Disney Advantage, making them a little more desirable than other off-site hotels. Those advantages include early theme park entry, golf tee time discounts and availability benefits, resort shuttle service to the theme parks, and exclusive discounts at Disney Springs. We’ll elaborate a bit more on these benefits as we continue.
List of Disney Springs Off-Site Hotels
Here is a list of the seven off-site hotels at Disney Springs:
- Wyndham Garden Lake Buena Vista
- Renaissance Orlando Resort & Spa
- Holiday Inn Orlando
- Hilton Orlando Lake Buena Vista
- Hilton Orlando Lake Buena Vista Palace
- Drury Plaza Hotel
- Double Tree Suites by Hilton
We’ve stayed at four of these seven resorts and have reviews of three of them on the site. I’ll link to those below if you want to research one further. As far as walking distance, these hotels are all across the street from Disney Springs, and most are within 2-3 blocks of the venue. Disney Springs is within an exceptionally high-traffic area during busy periods. So, a while back, pedestrian bridges were installed at each intersection connecting to Disney Springs. The streets are blocked, so you don’t have to worry about crossing them. You can take the stairs or an elevator to cross the bridge. You must walk through a security clearance when you come down on the opposite side at the Disney Springs Marketplace entrance.
During our stays, we’ve physically tracked a few of the distances to Disney Springs. Here are our results:
- Hilton Doubletree to Disney Springs Marketplace Entrance (0.7 miles, approx 16 minutes)
- Drury Plaza Hotel Disney Springs (0.7 miles, approx 16 minutes)
- Hilton Orlando Lake Buena Vista Palace (0.4 miles, approx 11-minute walk)
- Hilton Orlando, Holiday Inn, Wyndham, and Renaissance (6-12 minute walk)
Note that the Doubletree and Drury are directly across the street from each other. The Hilton Orlando Lake Buena Vista (not the palace) is the closest hotel to Disney Springs. The Wyndham is across the street from the regular Hilton. The Holiday Inn and Renaissance Orlando sit between the Hilton Orlando Buena Vista and the Hilton Doubletree. (The Renaissance Orlando was formerly the B Resort and Spa.)
Wyndham Garden Lake Buena Vista
We have not stayed at the Wyndham Garden Lake Buena Vista at Disney Springs, so you’ll want to do your homework and research well if you decide on this hotel. It will be comparable in price to one of the value resorts at Walt Disney World. If you’re looking for a budget-friendly resort, I would consider Pop Century or one of the All-Star Resorts. As far as the Wyndham, some of the positives listed on their website include:
- Early Theme Park Entry (Enter any theme park on any day 30 minutes before it opens.)
- Complimentary Shuttle Service to and from the Theme Parks. (Shuttles run up to one hour before each park opens and continue until one hour after the park closes. Per their website, reservations are required, and you’ll have to give 48 hours’ notice for wheelchair and scooter assistance. See the resort’s FAQ page here for specific details.)
Some of the negatives include:
- Daily Resort Fee
- Daily Parking Fee (if applicable)
Things to look for: When browsing the hotel’s website, I noticed the #1 amenity said “hot breakfast available.” Most hotels offer hot breakfasts for a fee, so do not confuse this with a complimentary breakfast.
Renaissance Orlando Resort and Spa
Formerly the B Resort and Spa, the Renaissance Orlando Resort and Spa is among the Disney Springs Resorts. We haven’t stayed at this resort, but it’s worth noting that it is a Marriott-owned and operated hotel. Pricing will be comparable to that of a value resort at Disney World. Benefits include:
- Early Theme Park Entry (Enter any theme park on any day 30 minutes before it opens.)
- Complimentary Shuttle Service (Must Be Scheduled)
- Bonvoy Members can obtain or use points when staying here.
Some of the negatives include:
- Daily Resort Fee
- Daily Parking Fee (if applicable)
Worth noting: The hotel’s website does not provide specifics about the complimentary shuttle. From our experience, several of the hotels in this guide partner with a shuttle service company. Upon arrival, the hotel will provide a discount and a QR code to schedule the shuttle. Sometimes, you’ll have to stop at other resorts on the way to and from the parks, which could cut into your touring time. Time is valuable, and the cost of your tickets correlates to how much time you spend in the parks.
Holiday Inn Orlando
The Holiday Inn Orlando at Disney Springs is another budget-friendly resort. This is the only other resort at Disney Springs that we haven’t stayed at. We frequented the neighboring Hilton years ago, which we’ll discuss next. Like the other resorts, the Holiday Inn offers:
- Early Theme Park Entry (Enter any theme park on any day 30 minutes before it opens.)
- Complimentary Shuttle Service (Must Be Scheduled)
- Kids Eat Free (See terms and conditions)
Thankfully, the Holiday Inn is gracious enough to offer a detailed, frequently asked questions page on its website about how transportation works. Like the other resorts, the negatives include daily resort fees and parking charges.
Hilton Orlando Lake Buena Vista
When my son was in his early school years, we often stayed at the Hilton Orlando Lake Buena Vista. Back then, you had to walk across a busy intersection to reach Disney Springs, formerly Downtown Disney. This hotel sits across the corner from the Marketplace entrance and will be your closest option. It’s also comparable in price to a value resort.
We always enjoyed our stays at this particular Hilton. But it’s important to note that the hotel offered a continuous shuttle service when we stayed there. These days, you have to go to the extra trouble of booking the shuttle service. Thankfully, both Hilton’s offer a proper explanation of the service on their website.
Other benefits include early theme park entry. All the hotels we’ve discussed offer the Disney Springs coupon book. It offers a few discounts for shopping, dining, and entertainment at Disney Springs. Many of them are reasonable if you plan on visiting the venue. But it’s kind of one of those things that you would only use if you already had plans to shop or dine at that establishment.
Hilton Orlando Lake Buena Vista Palace
Next on our list of hotels is the Hilton Orlando Lake Buena Vista Palace, which is comparable price-wise to a moderate resort at Disney World. The rooms are comparable to a moderate resort, except that it’s an interior hotel. But the pool area is comparable to a deluxe resort. We enjoyed the time we spent at the pool and lazy river during our last stay. It was also nice to walk to and from Disney Springs so easily.
On the positive side, this resort does offer a shuttle service (preview specifics here), and guests can take advantage of early theme park entry benefits. Unfortunately, you must consider parking and daily resort fees when booking a stay. If you would like to learn more and preview photos of the pool, our review of the Hilton Buena Vista Palace is a good place to start.
Drury Plaza Hotel
I might be biased, but the Disney Springs Drury Plaza Hotel is our favorite hotel option among the seven in this guide. The hotel’s staff and complimentary amenities overwhelmed me (in the best way) on our first visit. You can expect a full-service breakfast, dinner, and complimentary cocktails each day of your stay. If you’re on a budget and worried about the extra costs of meals for an entire week, this is a hotel you’ll want to investigate further. You can expect the same amenities (early entry and shared shuttle services) that we’ve already discussed. This hotel does not have a resort fee. However, you must pay a daily parking charge if you have a car. You can learn more about our surprising stay in our review of the Drury Plaza Hotel at Disney Springs.
Doubletree Suites by Hilton
Lastly, we have the Hilton Doubletree at Disney Springs. This hotel is known for offering oversized suites. It’s also worth noting that the rooms have been updated since our last stay. If you need larger accommodations, we like this hotel. Unfortunately, we didn’t have the best check-in experience. However, that sort of thing can happen anywhere and doesn’t necessarily dictate that you’ll have the same experience. To learn more about our experience, read our review of the Doubletree at Disney Springs. (Again, the rooms have been refreshed, and we also touched on the transportation schedule.)
Final Thoughts
As always, I hope you found this overview helpful. There are hundreds of off-site hotels in the Orlando area. I am very selective when choosing the hotels we review. My objective is to provide a variety of options ranging from budget-friendly to high-end that are close to Walt Disney World.
