This DVC Resort Pool will Close for a Lengthy Refurbishment in 2026
We recently shared a number of resort refurbishment announcements, ranging from entire resort renovations to pool closures and room redos. Rest assured, Disney emails guests when a refurbishment is announced that correlates with their resort and trip dates. Unfortunately, emails are often overlooked, and occasionally short notice is given.
For instance, guests were recently surprised that the Fuentes del Morro Pool at Caribbean Beach would make an unexpected closure in the coming weeks of early 2025 and that the Courtyard Pool at Grand Floridian would also soon close on short notice.
Short notices are few and far between. In most cases, Disney notifies guests of upcoming closures well ahead of time. But as with life, things happen. So, occasionally, we do see news of refurbishment with little notice given. Thankfully, that’s not the case with one DVC Resort whose pool is expected to close for several months in 2026. Per Disney:
From January 26, 2026 to early May 2026, the Bay Cove Pool, the water play area and the whirlpool spa at Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort will temporarily be closed for maintenance. The Bay Lake Pool, the feature pool, the water play area, and the whirlpool spa at Disney’s Contemporary Resort will remain open for Guests to enjoy.
If you plan a stay at Bay Lake Tower during this time, you’ll want to know about this closure. As you may know, the Bay Cove Pool is restricted to guests of Bay Lake Tower. Guests of Disney’s Contemporary cannot access it. So the pool, while busy, is often less crowded than the Contemporary’s feature pool.
Of course, Bay Lake Tower is undergoing a complete room renovation, which is expected to be completed by September 2025. Some newly renovated rooms have recently debuted and are now available. So, if you’re planning to stay in early 2026 to check out the new rooms, make sure you’re aware that the tower’s immediate pool likely won’t be available.
