NEW: Both of Disney’s Water Parks Will Be Open For Summer Season in 2025

Disney has shared that both Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon Water Parks will be open simultaneously for the summer season at Walt Disney World. In a post on their Facebook channel, a “weather announcer” noted that they were seeing signs of both a blizzard and a typhoon this summer at Disney World.
Both parks will be open from May 21st through September 7th! So guests will have an opportunity to choose which water park they want to visit! This is a turn in the right direction for Disney, and we are happy to see this announcement.
An excerpt from the Disney Parks Blog notes that Blizzard Beach will temporarily close to prepare for the season between May 1st through the 20th.
For the first time since 2019, Disney World will have all 6 of our parks—all 4 theme parks and 2 water parks—open at the same time. From May 21 through September 7, Disney World guests can enjoy the tropical shipwreck oasis of Typhoon Lagoon and the frosty fun of Blizzard Beach water park.
Before the summer fun can begin, Blizzard Beach will need a little melt away time and will temporarily close between May 1 and May 20.

You may remember that Disney’s Blizzard Beach is celebrating its 30th anniversary this month, and that Typhoon Lagoon is scheduled to open for the summer on May 1, 2025.
Over the last few years, the water parks have not operated simultaneously. Typhoon Lagoon has been open in the hotter portions of the year, typically between March and early November. Disney’s Blizzard Beach has been open during the cooler months, typically November through mid-March. Previously, the water parks were open year-round. However, each closed for about two months out of the year for an annual refurbishment. That refurbishment period was usually during the cooler months, and one park always remained open.
If you’re visiting in 2025, you’ll want to be aware of a special water park benefit for Disney Resort guests. Per Disney, guests can enjoy complimentary access to a water park (based on availability) on their check-in day in 2025. If you intend to use this benefit, you’ll want to know which park will be operational during your stay.
