Teamboat Springs (A Family Raft Ride at Disney’s Blizzard Beach)
Teamboat Springs is a family raft ride at Disney’s Blizzard Beach. It’s also considered one of the park’s signature attractions and one of the world’s longest family raft rides. Needless to say, it has a lot going for it. Did I mention it was fun? We love this ride!
Below, we’ll discuss the specifics of experiencing Teamboat Springs, including wait times, height requirements, and the best times to ride this popular attraction. This attraction is comparable to Miss Adventure Falls at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon. However, the boarding process is entirely different. We’ll get to that.
How Disney Water Parks Operate
It’s important to note that Disney’s water parks operate on a rotational schedule. Blizzard Beach is typically open between early November and March, and Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon is open between March and November. You’ll want to check the exact hours and availability for your visit.
To ride Teamboat Springs, you’ll have to reach the top of Mt. Gushmore. The most effortless way to do that is to take the chairlift up the mountain. Blizzard Beach’s chairlift doubles as an attraction and means of transportation. You can also take the stairs (a lot of stairs) up the mountain. The first flight begins directly behind the Cool Runners slides in the Ski Patrol Training Camp area. Or you can take the sloped ramp walkway up the backside of the mountain. It begins near Runoff Rapids.
Teamboat Springs is part of the green slopes along with Summit Plummet and Slush Gusher. A few ride rules are posted outside the entrance.
Bring the family aboard for a twisting, turning, fun-filled water raft trip down one of the world’s longest raft runs. For safety, you should be in good health and free from heart conditions, back or neck problems, or other conditions that could be aggravated by this adventure. Supervise children at all times. Children under age seven must be accompanied by a person age 14 years or older. Expectant mothers should not ride. Glasses and loose jewelry should be removed. The pool depth at the bottom of the slide is 2’10” (2 feet, 10 inches, or .8m).
*Guests must be able to transfer from a wheelchair or ECV to experience this attraction.
Teamboat Springs has a reasonably long queue with fun theming elements while you wait. Due to the nature of the ride and the inability to take our camera, we don’t have any decent photos of the ride.
However, over the years, we have waited in some pretty lengthy lines to experience this attraction. The good thing is that each raft seats four to six guests. If you’re a party of four or smaller, you might have other guests board your raft. We have always had to ride with other guests.
While Teamboat Springs does not have a height requirement, cast members ask that every guest be able to sit inside the raft and hang on to the two nearest handles at all times. While this is a family ride, the slide is fast and somewhat of a thrill, though not scary. When it’s your turn, everyone will stand in a designated place and board when the cast member gives the okay. Then, you’ll grab the nearest handles. When everyone’s seated and holding on, the cast member will push the button, and a conveyor belt will release you onto the slide.
The slope of the Teamboat Springs can be seen from the top of Mt Gushmore.
The Resorts Gal Spin on Teamboat Springs
We give Teamboat Springs the green light! We think it’s usually worth the wait but be prepared to wait up to 30 minutes on busier days. We recommend riding this attraction as early as possible before long waits begin to build.
Resorts Gal Traffic Signals
Green Light
We give an attraction the green light if we consider it a must-do, regardless of the posted wait. We also give the green light for attractions we deem suitable to experience anytime. For example, some attractions have high capacities. Therefore, the lines continuously move and you shouldn’t have a long wait unless the attraction experiences downtime.
Red Light
We recommend checking the posted wait times for red light attractions. Then, make a quick judgment call on whether to wait, skip it, or return later. We also red light some attractions that we feel might not be suitable based on our experience.
Final Thoughts
Overall, Teamboat Springs is a fun family attraction. We usually ride it multiple times during our visits. Since the attraction is at the top of the mountain, we recommend taking the chairlift to ride it first thing in the morning.
