Space Mountain Celebrates its 50th Anniversary with Special Countdown featuring Astronaut Donald Duck
Today, January 15, 2025, marks the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World’s Space Mountain, an indoor roller coaster attraction that opened on January 15, 1975. Disney celebrated the anniversary with the help of Walt Disney World Ambassadors (Shannon Smith-Conrad and Serena Arvizu) and a few old friends. Among those few old friends was Astronaut Donald, who helped conduct a countdown to the unforgettable moment! Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Goofy, and Pluto were in attendance.
Here is a video of the countdown that Walt Disney World shared on their social media accounts.
Disney also recently shared a look back at Space Mountain over the years on the Disney Parks Blog. If you would like to know more about the attraction’s history, you can read their article here.
