Seven Dwarfs Mine Train Review (A Resorts Gal Guide)
Whether you’re a thrill-seeker or a fan of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, you’ll likely want to experience the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train during your vacation. However, the thrills aren’t too scary! This family-friendly coaster at Magic Kingdom has small drops, turns, and twists that are fun for all ages.
Seven Dwarfs Mine Train sits in the center of Fantasyland and has become one of the most popular attractions since it opened nearly a decade ago. It replaced the former dark ride, Snow White’s Scary Adventures, during the expansion of New Fantasyland.
Guests rope-drop the park and head straight to the Mine Train each morning, hoping to experience it with minimal waits. However, this attraction often has long waits throughout most of the day. It’s not unusual to walk by and see an 80-minute wait, as shown in the photo below.
Here’s a quick reference chart for the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train Review
Seven Dwarfs Mine Train has two queues: Lightning Lane and Standby. It’s important to note that the attraction is not part of Lightning Lane Multi Pass. It’s offered as Lightning Lane Single Pass which requires an individual purchase in the My Disney Experience app. Each park has approximately two attractions with what we like to call “a la carte” or individual Lightning Lane entrances.
Individual Lightning Lane prices will vary per attraction. Seven Dwarfs Mine Train will cost approximately $10.00 to $15.00 per person, but those prices can vary. Tip: You do not have to purchase the entire Multi Pass service for individual Lightning Lanes.
A sign outside the entrance provides a few details about who should not ride. Remember that Disney’s rules state that children under the age of 7 must be accompanied by someone 14 years or older.
Seven Dwarfs Mine Train has a 38″ height requirement.
Seven Dwarfs Mine Train’s queue has interactive elements. These elements help keep kids (and some adults) entertained while waiting in the standby line.
Once you enter the vault, you’ll see an area with large barrels full of gems. A sign indicates to “Give the barrel a great big spin, you’ll be surprised, it’ll make ya grin!”
You’ll get an even bigger surprise if everyone spins the barrels at once!
Snow White will appear in the overhead middle of the ceiling. However, she only appears when everyone participates.
A few videos play overhead as you approach the loading area for the Mine Train. For instance, this one directs you to remove all backpacks, hats, picks, and shovels before climbing aboard.
It’s a good idea to secure your valuables. For example, I’ve lost a hat on this attraction and Slinky Dog Dash. Neither was recovered.
When you approach the loading area, a cast member will ask how many are in your party and assign you to a mine cart. The mine is dimly lit, so these photos aren’t great. But you can get an idea of what the ride vehicle looks like. Each cart sits two guests, and a lap bar comes down over each guest.
Seven Dwarfs Mine Train begins in the mine. However, you’re quickly whisked outside once the ride starts. Heigh ho, Heigh ho, it’s off to work you go!
After speeding out of the mine, you’ll prepare for your first lap around the mountain. Anticipation builds as you slowly climb to the top of the first drop.
Then you’re off! However, it’s nothing compared to most thrill rides. I rank Seven Dwarfs Mine Train somewhere between The Barnstormer and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.
You’ll drop back into the mine after your first lap around the mountain. This is the endearing part of the ride, where you’ll see animatronics of the Seven Dwarfs busy in the mine.
This part of the ride is slow and includes the Dwarfs singing about digging in the mine.
Dopey has diamond eyes.
After reaching the peak, you’ll spiral downward around the mountain.
Then, you’ll come to another abrupt stop in front of the Seven Dwarfs’ cottage.
At the end of the ride, you’ll see the Evil Queen disguised as the old hag knocking at the door with her poison apple. But most will look directly into the cottage where Snow White dances with the Seven Dwarfs.

Is the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train Scary?
Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is the most gentle roller coaster I’ve experienced. While the coaster has an abrupt stop and ending, it pauses and becomes a slow ride in the middle. This is an excellent attraction for children who meet the height requirement and are eager to ride it.
For example, when my niece was younger, she was wary of experiencing attractions like Expedition Everest and Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. However, she loved the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. She would ride it over and over if she could. For reference, she would panic if we encouraged her to ride something she felt might be scary.
Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is less than three minutes long.
When you exit Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, you’ll walk past the front of the cottage.
The Resorts Gal Spin on Seven Dwarfs Mine Train
We give Seven Dwarfs the green light! Most guests will want to ride the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train at least twice during their visit to Magic Kingdom. You might purchase one individual Lightning Lane and then ride it a second time via the standby line.
As far as the best times to ride Seven Dwarfs Mine Trail, you’ll want to ride first thing in the morning or within the last few minutes before the park closes. Usually, the wait time is less than 30 minutes if you get in line at the end of the night. For example, if the park closes at 9:00 p.m., get in line at 8:55 p.m. You can use this tip for any attraction that has a standby line.
Resorts Gal Traffic Signals
Green Light
We give an attraction the green light if we consider it a must-do, regardless of the posted wait. We also give the green light for attractions we deem suitable to experience anytime. For example, some attractions have high capacities. Therefore, the lines continuously move and you shouldn’t have a long wait unless the attraction experiences downtime.
Red Light
We recommend checking the posted wait times for red light attractions. Then, make a quick judgment call on whether to wait, skip it, or return later. We also red light some attractions that we feel might not be suitable based on our experience.
