Slinky Dog Dash Review
Slinky Dog Dash might as well have leaped into our hearts like an actual Slinky Dog when it opened a few years back. Some might consider this a kiddie coaster, but it’s so much more to me. This gentle ride offers tickle-your-tummy type drops, small dips, pauses, and an on-ride photo toward the end. There are no free-falls, loops, or inversions. Its top speed is 40 miles per hour.
This attraction is themed to a Dash & Dodge Mega Coaster Kit that Andy put together in his backyard. As you enter the queue, you’ll notice the Mega Coaster Play Kit appears to be discarded with pieces scattered about.
Slinky Dog Dash has a height requirement of 38″. Therefore, you’ll want to ensure that children meet that requirement when entering the queue. Cast members often do a second check before boarding for children who look questionable in height.
This attraction has a long queue that is partially outdoors. The exterior section of the line has little to no shade. Often, the line far exceeds the actual queue itself. As a result, it’s normal to see the line cross over the bridge and wrap around the outskirts of the land, especially first thing in the morning.
Due to its popularity, Slinky Dog Dash has long wait times throughout the day. It’s a prime rope drop attraction that guests head to first thing in the morning. After the initial line builds, it stays long for the remainder of the day. This attraction is a Tier 1 Category selection with Lightning Lane Multi Pass. We consider this a top priority when you go to make your initial selection.
As far as the best times to ride Slinky Dog Dash without a Lightning Lane, we have a few recommendations. If you plan to rope drop the park, this attraction or Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance would be our top choice. We also like to get in line for Slinky Dog Dash at the end of the evening, about 5-10 minutes before closing. Even if the line seems fairly long, the Lightning Lane option ends as soon as the park closes. So, the line will begin to move much more quickly with fewer people skipping it.
When you reach the loading area, you’ll stand with the rest of your party on an assigned number.
The roller coaster is broken down into two sections, with a brief pause in the middle. When you first take off, you’ll wrap around the side with Rex and Jessie. After that, there is a slight lift and a small drop. However, most of the feeling comes from speeding over smaller drops.
Most guests smile or laugh the whole way through Slinky Dog, which is one of those fun, carefree rides. As long as your tall enough, it’s perfect for the whole family.
After zipping around the far side, you’ll turn again and pause. As mentioned earlier, the idea of Slinky Dog Dash is that Andy put together a toy roller coaster in his backyard. This area is designed to make you feel like Andy put you on the track and then pulled you back to set you forward in motion. Kind of like what you would do with a mini car on a toy racetrack.
On this initial lift, you’ll catch stunning views of Galaxy’s Edge in the distance if you look over to your left. Then, you’ll straighten after the turn and see the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror ahead.
Before you know it, you’ll have reached the grand finale.
Wheezy is there performing a rendition of “You’ve Got a Friend in Me.” Lastly, an on-ride photo opportunity is available on Slinky Dog Dash. Toward the middle of the ride, there is a slight pause, and the photo is taken once you start again as you move toward the second run of the coaster.
The Resorts Gal Spin on Slinky Dog Dash

Resorts Gal Traffic Signals
Green Light
We give an attraction the green light if we consider it a must-do, regardless of the posted wait. We also give the green light for attractions we deem suitable to experience anytime. For example, some attractions have high capacities. Therefore, the lines continuously move and you shouldn’t have a long wait unless the attraction experiences downtime.
Red Light
We recommend checking the posted wait times for red light attractions. Then, make a quick judgment call on whether to wait, skip it, or return later. We also red light some attractions that we feel might not be suitable based on our experience.
