Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith Ride Guide
Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith is a rollercoaster attraction at Walt Disney World’s Hollywood Studios. This popular ride is located at the end of Sunset Boulevard, past the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. Below, we’ll go over everything you need to know to experience this ride during your next vacation.
But here’s a warning! For this ride, you’ll hop in your very own “super stretch limo” as you zip through the streets of LA just in time to make it to Aerosmith’s latest performance. But don’t be surprised when you get vertical. It will take a high-speed launch, several dips, and inversions to get there. Did I mention this attraction was indoors?

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Review
The Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster is a “life in the fast lane” kind of ride. This high-speed attraction offers three inversions (loops), two rollovers, and a corkscrew. Most of the queue is in a covered outdoor waiting area. Eventually, you’ll make your way inside G-Force Records, a fictional recording studio. Here, you’ll see the ride’s preshow that features the band Aerosmith. As you watch through the glass, you’ll see they are in the middle of a recording session. All at once, their manager interrupts, warning them they’ll be late for a concert.
Steven Tyler, the band leader, then suggests that everyone come along to the concert. Next thing you know, you are on your way to board a fast-moving limo. While you wait to board, you’ll watch as other ride vehicles fill ahead of you. As they come around the first bend of the track, they pause for a countdown. Then, suddenly, they take off at an extreme acceleration, reaching up to 57 mph in less than three seconds.
This is undoubtedly the most unnerving part of the ride other than sitting there yourself as you watch the clock strike down to zero. After the launch sequence, you’re off on a dark ride through the streets of LA, and one of the following songs plays in the background:
- Walk This Way
- Dude (Looks Like a Lady)
- Sweet Emotion
- Back in the Saddle
- Love in a Roller Coaster
*Love is a Roller Coaster was rewritten for the attraction. The original song refers to Love in an Elevator.
Rock ‘n’ Roller has three queue options: standby, a single rider line, and a Lightning Lane. While we normally recommend single rider lines, we don’t for this attraction. We’ve tested the single rider a couple of times over the years and find that we often wait the longest in it. Of course, there will be times when it might be an advantage. But we have not had that experience.
Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster has a pull-down harness-style restraint that covers the chest area. This is similar to what you would expect from any other attraction with inversions.
At the end of the ride, you’ll exit into the ride’s gift shop.
As far as the best time to ride the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, in most cases, it will be first thing in the morning or last thing at night. This attraction is a Tier 1 Category Lightning Lane and an excellent first selection. However, we would also consider Slinky Dog Dash our first Tier 1 Category selection.
The Resorts Gal Spin on Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster
We love Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster and consider it a high-priority attraction for anyone who enjoys thrills! So, it gets the green light from Resorts Gal. However, you might want to redlight it if you have someone at your party who doesn’t want to participate.
The only downside? This attraction is so popular that it will likely have wait times of more than an hour for the majority of the day. If you want to experience it multiple times, you might hop in line at the very end of the evening (right before the park closes) for less-than-average waits.
Resorts Gal Traffic Signals
Green Light
We give an attraction the green light if we consider it a must-do, regardless of the posted wait. We also give the green light for attractions we deem suitable to experience anytime. For example, some attractions have high capacities. Therefore, the lines continuously move and you shouldn’t have a long wait unless the attraction experiences downtime.
Red Light
We recommend checking the posted wait times for red light attractions. Then, make a quick judgment call on whether to wait, skip it, or return later. We also red light some attractions that we feel might not be suitable based on our experience.
