Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind to Join Early Entry Attraction Lineup at Epcot

Earlier today, Disney announced that Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind would no longer offer a virtual queue starting February 25th. This comes at nearly three years after the attraction first opened in May of 2022. If you subscribe to our newsletter, you should have an update in your inbox that shares these details. We also elaborated on the reasons we think this is a move in the right direction and a tip for the best time to ride.
Speaking of when to ride Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, a quick check of the attraction’s home page on Disney’s site revealed that the ride will be participating in Early Theme Park Entry beginning February 25th. So any guest eligible for early entry can head straight to the attraction’s entrance during the early entry period.
For example, on February 25th, Epcot is open from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is listed as being available for Early Theme Park Entry: 8:30 a.m. until 9:00 a.m.
What is early entry? Guest who are staying at any Disney Resort Hotel (and select other hotels) are eligible for a 30-minute early entry period into any of the Walt Disney World theme parks on every day of their stay. This includes check-in and check-out days. We have a separate guide here that covers details of early entry along with eligible hotels and available attractions.
Why is this significant? Most guests head straight to the most popular attractions as soon as the park opens. Ideally, early entry allows guests to experience an attraction before long waits build. At Epcot, the most popular rope drop attractions (right now) are Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure and Frozen Ever After. So when Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind becomes eligible for early entry, guests will likely flock it to it first thing in the morning.
Before February 25th, guests could only join the line for Cosmic Rewind with a virtual queue or Lightning Lane (Single Pass or Premier Pass). Soon, guests will no longer have to vie for the virtual queue or make a separate purchase to experience the attraction.
Therefore, if you have an upcoming trip with plans to rope-drop the parks first thing in the morning, you’re probably going to want to reconsider your strategy for Epcot. If you’re not an early riser or plan to park-hop, you might like to read our evening touring plan for Epcot that we shared a few months back. (It includes the tip mentioned above that we shared with our subscribers. But you’ll have to sacrifice one thing in order to make it work.)
