Adventureland at Magic Kingdom (Rides, Dining, and Shopping)
As we continue our Magic Kingdom by Land series, we’re off to Adventureland. We’ll discuss the attractions, dining options, character meets, and shopping in this area of the park.
Magic Kingdom’s Adventureland is a tropical area in the park that lends itself to a time of pirates, adventurers, and explorers. This area is unique in that it features three opening-day attractions and another that many consider one of the most classic rides of all time.
In addition to the attractions, this land is famously known for its snacks. Adventureland is the place to pick up an original pineapple Dole Whip, and they also have cheeseburger spring rolls that everyone raves about!
So grab your pirate map and save room for dessert. We’re off to Adventureland to hunt for treasure, and maybe we’ll take a spin on a magic carpet while we’re at it.

Adventureland Rides and Attractions
Adventureland is one of the few lands where the attractions don’t have height restrictions. Additionally, three of these attractions are original to the park and beloved by the nostalgic.
Jungle Cruise
Jungle Cruise is the first of those three original opening-day attractions in Adventureland. This attraction was envisioned by Walt Disney when he planned Disneyland.
Of course, back then, Walt wanted to add live animals to the park. But unfortunately, that idea wasn’t able to come to fruition at the time. However, his dream was realized decades later at an attraction called Kilimanjaro Safaris at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park.
While it’s an older attraction, the Jungle Cruise often has long lines with waits of up to an hour. This attraction has an individual Lightning Lane in addition to a standby queue. Guests who purchase the Multi Pass upgrade will want to consider using Lightning Lane at this attraction. The Jungle Cruise is a slow-moving boat ride with a Jungle Cruise Skipper. The Skippers provide a play-by-play in the form of corny jokes as you make your way through the jungle.
Expect to see elephants, lions, zebras, and other animal audio-animatronics along the way. For more details and photos, we have a complete overview of the ride in a separate article.

Magic Carpets of Aladdin
Next, we have the Magic Carpets of Aladdin. This attraction is a spinner, similar to Dumbo, the Flying Elephant in Storybook Circus. While a simple ride, it’s important to remember that this is the kind of attraction that younger children adore. So ride it with them as many times as they want. Well, at least a couple of times–you get the picture. Oh, and make sure to watch out for the spitting camels!
A camel sits outside the ride’s entrance, spitting water at unsuspecting guests as they make their way through Adventureland. The other camel faces the ride, and if you adjust your carpet to the correct location while you’re flying, it might douse you with water.

Swiss Family Treehouse
Swiss Family Treehouse is another beloved attraction that is original to the park. From Adventureland, you can cross the bridge and climb 116 steps to the top of the tree. Along the way, you’ll see the Robinson families’ dining room, sleeping quarters, kitchen, and library. Don’t forget to check out the views of Cinderella Castle, Tron, and Space Mountain from the top!
Swiss Family Treehouse is typically open until dusk and is considered an anytime attraction since it’s self-paced. If you would like to learn more, we have an entire walk-through tour of the treehouse that includes photos and a few tips.

Pirates of the Caribbean
Pirates of the Caribbean is another classic ride. However, it didn’t debut until a few years after the park’s grand opening. This attraction features tons of audio-animatronics in the form of pirates. Over the years, the ride has been refurbished many times. Some of the more recent refurbishments include the addition of Captain Jack Sparrow and the popular female pirate, Redd.
Pirates of the Caribbean is a slow-moving boat ride with a small drop toward the beginning. However, the drop is relatively insignificant, and this attraction has no height requirements. Guests might receive a splash of water from the ship firing a cannonball scene immediately after the drop. But it’s not much more than a small splash.
When you exit the ride, you will indeed be singing, “Yo Ho, Yo Ho, a pirate’s life for me.”
Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room
Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room is our third original Adventureland attraction. However, when the attraction initially opened, it was called Tropical Serenade. Then, in the late 90s, the attraction underwent a significant refurbishment, renamed The Enchanted Tiki Room: Under New Management. At that time, it was hosted by Zazu (The Lion King) and Iago (Aladdin). Eventually, the show was reworked to include the original bird hosts and reopened as Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room, and that’s how it remains today.
Most importantly, though, Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room originally debuted in 1963 at Disneyland Park in California. It was the first ever time Walt Disney’s audio-animatronics technology was introduced to the world. So, if you’re interested in the history of Walt Disney or nostalgia, this 15-minute attraction is a must-do! Oh, and you’ll probably leave this one singing, “In the Tiki Tiki Tiki Room!”
During those 15 minutes, guests enjoy being serenaded by the birds of the Tiki Room. It’s an enchanting escape from the heat or inclement weather.

Dining in Adventureland
Magic Kingdom’s Adventureland is home to one table-service restaurant, a counter service, and a few quick-service locations.
Jungle Navigation Co. LTD. Skipper Canteen
Jungle Navigation Co. LTD. Skipper Canteen is a table-service restaurant in Adventureland. We have eaten at this restaurant numerous times over the year and love the theming. Unfortunately, the food hasn’t been up to par on our last couple of visits. Our last meal was so salty we didn’t finish it and ended up getting something elsewhere later that evening.
Hopefully, that’s not the case for future visits. We have enjoyed dining here immensely in the past. But it will be some time before we try it again.

Here is a look at a few of their menu items.
Tortuga Tavern
Tortuga Tavern sits across the walkway from Pirates of the Caribbean. This counter-service restaurant has pirate-theming and several unique flavors when it comes to menu items.
A code of conduct hangs at the entrance. You might want to read it, but do it like a pirate. Ye be warned!
The menu includes orange chicken strips, a barbecued pork sandwich, and peanut butter, chocolate hazelnut, and banana sandwiches. Be warned! (This location tends to have limited hours.)
They also have a pirate slushy and a barbecued slaw dog.
Aloha Isle
Aloha Isle is a staple for the original Dole Whip, soft serve, floats, and other delicious treats. It sits directly behind The Magic Carpets of Aladdin and offers mobile order service.
If you don’t use mobile order, be prepared to wait. This popular location tends to have long lines!
Tip: Dole Whip is dairy-free. But if you do have an allergy, alert the cast member. They have a separate machine to help avoid cross-contamination.
On my last visit, they had a regular Dole Whip Pineapple Float, a Soft Serve, a Tropical Serenade Float, and a Pineapple Upside-Down Cake. You can also order a cup of freshly squeezed pineapple juice, an excellent refreshment when parched.
Sunshine Tree Terrace
Sunshine Tree Terrace is home to the Orange Bird and is considered another Adventureland staple. It is located near the entrance of the Swiss Family Treehouse.
Sunshine Tree Terrace has the I Lava You Float, Floats, and cups of various flavors, including citrus swirl, vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry. On this visit, they also had pot stickers, which is not the usual item for this location.
Spring Rolls
Speaking of Asian cuisine, the Spring Rolls cart sits outside the entrance of Adventureland.
On our last visit, they had a choice of two spring rolls–cheeseburger spring rolls and pastrami and pepper jack spring rolls. Mustard dipping sauce is available.
You can also pick up popcorn or other ice cream novelties at a snack stand in Adventureland. This stand is usually located on the upper-level walkway in front of the Jungle Cruise.
Character Meet-and-Greets in Adventureland
Several popular characters meet in Adventureland. We’ll go over who you can meet on an average day.
Aladdin and Jasmine
First, Aladdin meets with Jasmine near Agrabah Bazaar under a partially covered tent. This is the only place to meet them together in Walt Disney World. They hold long lines and meet intermittently throughout most of the day. You’ll want to check the My Disney Experience app on the day of your visit for exact times.

Captain Jack Sparrow
Jack Sparrow meets daily in Adventureland near the Adventureland Stage, across the walkway from Pirates of the Caribbean. You might also see him out roaming Adventureland from time to time. He likes to sneak up on guests around the ride queue.

Shopping in Adventureland
Adventureland is home to several places that sell pirate merchandise, costumes, and souvenirs, among other things.
Plaza del Sol Caribe Bazaar
When you exit Pirates of the Caribbean, you’re dropped off at the ride shop, Plaza del Sol Caribe Bazaar. A pair of restrooms are available on the far end of this gift shop. (Note: Part of this gift shop was walled off in 2024 as construction on a pirate’s themed lounge began. More on that below.)
Plaza del Sol is one of the few remaining well-themed gift shops in Walt Disney World.
Here are a few of the items that were available on this last visit.
Parents, when children see the swords, they will likely ask for one. Ye be warned!
La Princesa De Cristal
Arribas Brothers has a small crystal shop set up toward the front of the store.
Island Supply by Sunglass Hut
Island Supply by Sunglass Hut sells higher-end sunglasses toward the front of Adventureland.
They usually have several pairs of Disney-themed Ray-Ban sunglasses. These have a subtle Mickey Mouse on them.
Bwana Bob’s
If I ever see a new hat come out online, I always stop to check it out at Bwana Bob’s. This location has tons of Minnie Ears and baseball caps. Bwana Bob’s is inside the main entrance to Adventureland before you get to Swiss Family Treehouse.
Agrabah Bazaar might also be a good place to pick up a few things.
The Pirates League
Disney is converting The Pirate’s League into a pirates-themed lounge. Here is a look at the former entrance.

Club 33
When you enter Adventureland, you might notice a two-story building to the far right. Inside is the Captain’s Quarters, a lounge exclusive to guests who are members of Club 33.
A Pirates Adventure Interactive Game
Lastly, Adventureland has an interactive game called A Pirates Adventure: Treasures of the Seven Seas. To start, you’ll want to visit the main headquarters for this attraction just outside the back entrance to Adventureland.
You’ll pick up a map and start with your first clue. Several checkpoints are available throughout Adventureland, and you’ll have fun finding them with the help of your map. You can also stop and restart the game as often as you like. Missions don’t have a time limit, so you might complete them over several park visits. There is no fee to participate in this game.
Lastly, I wanted to mention that Adventureland has several benches and tables with chairs near the Magic Carpets ride. So if you need a break, you can usually find a seat in the nearby area.
Final Thoughts on Adventureland
Overall, Adventureland has a lot to see and do, especially classic attractions and popular snacks. Hopefully, this overview gave you a little insight into touring the area.
Magic Kingdom has so much to do that it’s almost impossible to do everything over several days at the park. So, as always, we recommend making a list of the most important things and doing what you can. But more than anything, enjoy your time.
