These Two Beloved Characters No Longer Meet Regularly at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon

Unfortunately, we rarely see character meet-and-greets at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon anymore. However, some characters appear at H20 Glow Nights, a separately ticketed event on Saturday evenings throughout the summer. But as far as seeing regular characters on the average day goes, your chances are slim to none.
It used to be that a day at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon wasn’t complete without seeing a few characters! The park had two characters who rotated a meet-and-greet location back then. Those characters were Lilo and Stitch from Lilo and Stitch. These two fan favorites often greet guests near the entrance of Typhoon Lagoon. But here’s a photo of the scene lately.

How Disney Water Parks Operate
It’s important to note that Disney’s water parks operate differently and each one closes for a yearly refurbishment period. You’ll want to check exact hours and availability based on your travel dates. The water parks may close on days when colder temperatures are forecasted.
You’ll find this fun photo spot to the immediate right of Singapore Sals. Stitch used to greet guests around the park’s opening time a few years back. Then, he and Lilo would rotate appearances off and on throughout the day. We love this meet-and-greet location because both characters were pretty easy to see if you happened upon them at the right time. Given the hot temperatures, they were usually in and out for brief periods over the day.

Here’s Lilo! Lilo has become an exceptionally rare character at Walt Disney World. The only place to meet her is at the ‘Ohana Best Friends Breakfast at the Polynesian. Of course, that meal will require a reservation.

Additionally, PhotoPass photographers used to be available at the park to take photos of the character meet-and-greets. They were also stationed at the ends of rides like Crush ‘n’ Gusher and Miss Adventure Falls. We have a few family photos (that no one will ever see) of us (okay, it was me) flipping out of a raft we would never have had if it hadn’t been for PhotoPass photographers in the water parks.
We saw a few PhotoPass photographers during a test phase last summer, but I haven’t encountered any this year. Hopefully, with the new water park resort perk debuting in 2025, we’ll see the return of consistent characters and photo ops in both water parks. One can always hope!

I hope the next time I update this article, I can write a new one announcing that traditional character meet-and-greets have returned to Typhoon Lagoon. Characters are, after all, an integral part of the Disney vacation experience. What do you think? Let me know below in the comments.
