Meet Goofy in His Bird-Watching Costume at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

What kind of bird works at a construction site? A crane. Get it? This is the kind of joke you’ll want to come up with before you meet Goofy in his bird-watching attire at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. He’s giving all the Camp Mickey-Minnie vibes in this newly-fashioned look that comes with a set of props! Not to mention, that goofy smile is always adorable.

If you’re hoping to meet Goofy, this is the latest location to find him, and it sounds like he might be here to stay for a while. Earlier this year, we ran into Goofy in his carnival costume in Dinoland USA, where he met briefly before returning to his character cruise with Pluto. However, the character cruises have now ended. So Goofy and Pluto have officially been added to the My Disney Experience app and are now meeting behind Chester’s and Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures. Below, we’ll go over the details.

Chester and Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures is to the far right side of Dinoland USA. The World’s Largest Pin Truck sits directly in front of it.

Here is a photo of the location. You might notice a faux dinosaur sits nearby. Several characters meet in Dinoland as part of Donald’s Dino-Bash.

When I arrived, nothing in the area indicated a character meet was available other than the Dino-Bash sign. But we had met Pluto in his Dino-Bash dog collar at this location previously, so I felt pretty sure I was at the right spot. A cast member rolled out Goofy’s bird-watching gear within a few minutes and mentioned that he would return in about 10 minutes. By this time, a couple of other guests had arrived, and we formed a line.

It looks like Goofy might have accidentally taken a selfie when he was trying to photograph the birds.

At the top of his gear, he had a chart that listed how many birdies he saw and what kind! Is this not the cutest thing you’ve ever seen?

Goofy then posed for a couple of photos. He signs autographs at this location and a PhotoPass photographer was available on this visit.

Check the My Disney Experience app on the day of your visit for Goofy’s exact location and times. He meets intermittently throughout most of the day. But most character meet-and-greets tend to wrap up a few hours before the park closes. It’s also important to consider the weather for outdoor meet-and-greets. This meet-and-greet would be cancelled in the event of rain or other inclement weather.
