Through the Years: Goofy’s Character Topiary at Epcot’s Flower and Garden Festival

If you’ve been following along, you know that we’ve taken an in depth look at character topiaries at Epcot’s Flower and Garden Festival. This series is titled Through the Years and features some of the most popular topiaries and how they’ve changed through the years. For this article, we’ll look at Goofy’s topiary. Similar to Pluto with Chip and Dale, he tends to end up either alone or grouped with others.
Our photos of Goofy’s topiary date back to 2021 when he joined Mickey and Minnie Mouse in a construction-themed setting for the Taste of the Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival. Goofy was holding a large rubber mallet, which might have led some to worry given his accidental nature.

Then, in 2022 he stole the stage at the park’s entrance. He was holding a layer cake that was dripping with blue and gold icing to celebrate Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary.

Here’s a closer look.

In 2023, he was relocated to the large bed between Disney Traders and Port of Entry. This is where the Madrigal topiaries from Encanto resided last year and again in 2025.

Goofy had a bouquet of flowers lifted to the sky. He was surrounded by oversized pink and yellow topiary flowers.

Then, in a surprise twist, a new Goofy topiary debuted at the 2024 Flower and Garden Festival. He was placed on the flower mural that surrounds the water’s edge. He was blowing a dandelion as though he were making a wish.

In true Goofy fashion, the dandelion seeds spread and giant ones started to pop up out of nowhere. It was also nice to see how the entire scene, including Goofy’s wardrobe, bloomed over the coming months. Someone was very creative not only in designing this topiary but in thinking about its transition.

This topiary returns in 2025. If you visit regularly, you might think to stop and notice how it changes over time. It’s truly these little details that make for an incredible experience. As for our topiary series, I’ve selected one final display that we’ll get to next. But I won’t leave you wondering for long. All eight of these topiaries are the stars of Walt Disney’s first animated film.
