Through the Years: The Figment Topiary at Epcot’s Flower and Garden Festival (Photos)

As we continue our look back at topiaries through the years, I thought we’d check out that one little spark of inspiration for many of us, Figment. This adorable purple dragon topiary dates back to around 2017. Since that time, Epcot’s mascot (in shrub form) has seen some significant changes in design, size, and location. Below, we’ll preview a few photos of how he’s changed through the years. You may remember that last year he relocated to a larger topiary display in World Celebration. This same topiary called Figment and Topiary Flowers is on the list of new and returning topiaries for 2025.

Our pictures date back to 2019 when Figment sat on a topiary sphere. He was also surrounded by flowers in this particular garden.

For the next Festival, he moved in front of the Imagination Pavilion sign. The Lion King topiary took over his existing spot this same year. The pictures below show how his look started to change as his structure became more detailed.

Then, his entire composition changed in 2023 as he debuted a new look covered in succulents. I don’t know about you but I think the succulents suit him.

Here’s a larger image of how well he turned out.

Then, Figment was relocated to the World Celebration Gardens in 2024 and we see the return of the flowers. This time the flower petals are pink and the centers are decked out in succulents.

I hope you enjoyed the photos. It’s always interesting to see how thing have changed through the years. If you’re a fan of Figment, you might also enjoy our overview of his meet-and-greet at Epcot. It includes photos of his location and autograph card. For more topiaries, we also recently took a look at Tinker Bell’s topiary.
