Various Finale Characters
We’ve listed the characters who appear in the finale boat scene below.
Fantasmic! is held in the Hollywood Hills Amphitheater at the end of Sunset Boulevard. Guests can enter the theater up to 90 minutes before the performance. Dining packages are available for booking at 60 days out. The advantage of a dining package is that you get reserved seating. So you won’t have to worry about arriving at the theater too early. However, if you want to sit close to the water, you’ll still want to get there early.

Mickey Mouse is the star of the show. He makes appearances in his suit and tie look, a Sword in the Stone type outfit, his pajamas (red shorts), and as the Sorcerer’s Apprentice. The show’s premise is that he’s fallen asleep to a wonderful dream that includes characters, performers, and scenes from classic Disney animated films. The dream sequence begins with a nod to The Lion King and The Jungle Book.
Pocahontas then appears in her own scene. This is one of the few places to see her at Walt Disney World.
Mulan is part of a training scene.
Aladdin performs several thrilling stunts during his act.
Elsa is one of the new scenes that was added when Fantasmic! returned.
Moana is another new scene. Her sequence with the water is stunning.
Then, the princesses come out on barges with their princes. This is a dreamy performance.
Unfortunately, the dream sequence takes a wrong turn, as dreams often do. The villains come out and try to take over Mickey’s dream. He sure has some imagination.
The Evil Queen from Snow White summons the Magic Mirror, which appears as a water projection.
Then Jafar is enlisted to destroy Mickey’s dream, which is now a full-blown nightmare. Jafar appears as a snake.
Finally, Maleficent appears and transforms into a fire-breathing dragon. Flames begin to form on the water between the stage and the audience.
Mickey suddenly remembers that it’s his dream, and he’s in charge! As he puts out the flames, the water fountains return and a small fireworks display goes off in the background.
A boat then enters the water, filled with beloved characters!
Mickey appears as Steamboat Willie, the captain of the boat.
Most of the characters we’ve already seen throughout the performance appear in the boat scene portion of the finale. These characters are pretty regular but could change from time to time. On this evening, we saw the Seven Dwarfs, Mary Poppins, Jasmine with Aladdin, Elsa, Prince Eric and Ariel, Snow White and the Prince, Pinocchio, Gepetto, Chip and Dale, Donald Duck, Rafiki, Goofy, Pluto, Minnie Mouse, Meeko, Pocahontas, Belle, Beast, and Moana. Here are a few photos:
As part of the grand finale, Mickey Mouse makes another appearance as Sorcerer Mickey.
We sat in the fourth row for this performance and had an excellent view. Fantasmic! is 29 minutes, so it’s a considerable time investment. Given its popularity, you’ll want to arrive as early as possible. If you arrive at the last minute and have to sit in the small sections at the back of the theater, it would probably not be worth your time. (A walkway separates these areas from the main portion of the theater. Anywhere in the main section is okay. We’ve watched from the last few rows and always had good views.)
My best tip is to look for any nights that Fantasmic! is scheduled twice and then attend the second performance. I attended a second performance this evening. I walked in about ten minutes beforehand and could have had a front-row seat. However, we like to sit a few rows back because of the mist screens. You might get sprayed with a bit of water, which largely depends on the wind. Below is a photo of the crowd for the second showing.
Concessions are available. They usually have items like nachos, pretzels, popcorn, and soda. I’ve been known to pick up a Ronto Wrap and take it to the theater to enjoy while waiting for the show. You can usually pick them up inside Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo after Ronto Roasters closes.
