Disney Shares Figment Update from CEO Bob Iger (And Other Takes from Today’s Shareholder Meeting)

Today, in the Q&A section of The Walt Disney Company’s Annual Shareholder’s meeting, Bob Iger was asked if there were any plans to incorporate Figment into the parks. He laughed and talked about in all his time as CEO how this question had repeatedly been asked, possibly more than any other. He then replied, “I’m going to ask our creative team to make some short-form videos of Figment…” Later, Disney Parks shared the same quote with a photo of our favorite purple dragon on their social media.

As for Figment, guests can meet him inside the Imagination Pavilion at Epcot. We prefer to take a spin on Journey Into Imagination with Figment first, and then meet him at the end of the ride. We have more details about his meet-and-greet in the following article.

We listened to today’s shareholder meeting, but unfortunately, there wasn’t much “new” to report regarding the parks and resorts. Disney did announce that Coco 2 was in the early stages of development.

Regarding theme park developments, Disney noted that more was being designed, developed, and built than ever before in the company’s history. They mentioned the new Cars area and villains-themed land coming to Magic Kingdom, the Monsters, Inc-themed land at Hollywood Studios, and the Tropical Americas-themed land being constructed at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
When asked about other types of developments, there was an emphasis on adding new ships to the Disney Cruise Line and improving guests experiences in their current theme parks.
In regards to a question raised about pricing concerns, Iger stated that he had recently returned from a visit to Walt Disney World in early March. He commented on the busyness of both the parks and Disney Springs, noting that the demand to visit was high, and the value offered was tremendous, especially when comparing the costs associated with attending a concert or sporting event.
