Through the Years: Pluto with Chip and Dale’s Character Topiaries at Epcot’s Flower and Garden Festival
Pluto is one of those characters who’s a little near and dear to my heart. He often gets lumped in with Mickey and Minnie Mouse or Goofy, which is understandable since he’s considered one of the Fab Five. For reference, the Fab Five consists of Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Pluto, Goofy, and Donald Duck. Anyway, as I was sorting photos for this topiary series, I wasn’t sure quite what to do with Pluto or Chip and Dale. So I decided to create a separate photo post dedicated to the most lovable Disney sidekick of all time and the pair of fun-loving chipmunks.
If you haven’t had the opportunity to meet Pluto or Chip and Dale in the parks, you’re missing out. Pluto is always eager to greet every guest. Meanwhile, Chip and Dale are always looking to joke around. Give it a try, you’ll be smiling from ear to ear as you walk away. I guarantee it.
A far as their topiaries go, we’ll start with a photo of Pluto’s topiary dating back to 2019. This year his collar was made of vibrant sunflowers.
Chip and Dale were part of another topiary featuring Mickey and Minnie Mouse in a nearby area. Just like in real life, Chip has a dark nose and Dale has a gap between his teeth. You can remember it by thinking that Chip has a nose that looks like a chocolate chip, and a dale is a gap between someone’s teeth.
In 2021, the trio were in another planter in the same area. This year the festival was called a Taste of the Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival. All of the classic characters had a construction theme and Pluto was carrying a tape measure in his mouth.
The photo below shows their proximity to Mickey, Minnie, and Goofy.
Pluto, along with Chip and Dale moved across the park to the America Pavilion for 2022. Pluto’s collar was made of magnolia blossoms this year. (This is the same location where Princess Tiana debuted in 2023.)
The three topiaries returned to their former location in a picnic setting with Mickey and Minnie Mouse in 2023.
Chip and Dale were positioned toward the front of the setting.
They returned to the same area last year but were slightly relocated facing the opposite direction with Pluto prominently placed in the center of the topiary bunch.
The five classic characters return to a picnic setting in the same area of the park for 2025. If you’re interested in meeting Chip and Dale at Disney World, you can find them in a multitude of places. Pluto also meets at several locations. We usually like to find him at Epcot’s main entrance.
