Character Spotlight: Chip and Dale at Walt Disney World

Chip and Dale are regular characters who appear daily at Walt Disney World. The duo participates in meet-and-greets, character dining, parades, and more. They are typically pretty simple to find in most parks if you know where to look for them. Below, we’ll discuss a little of their cartoon history, where you might find them in the parks, and preview photos of a few unique costumes
Related Films: Chip and Dale originally debuted in an animated short film called Private Pluto in 1943. Since that time, the pair has appeared in numerous short films, typically paired with Donald Duck or Pluto. Then, in 1989, the chipmunks debuted in their original series, Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers. Since that time, they’ve had a few other series: Chip ‘n Dale’s Nutty Tales and Chip ‘n Dale: Park Life.

How to Locate Characters in the My Disney Experience App
- Open the My Disney Experience app and select the pin drop at the bottom of the home screen.
- Scroll (left to right) through the icons at the top of the screen and select “Characters.”
- After selecting characters, use the locations drop down to select the park of your choice.
- Then, on the bottom right of the screen, select “Show List.”
- Scroll through the list of characters with their times and locations.
- As an alternative, you can use the map view to locate characters.
*As the day passes, you might notice that characters disappear from the app. When their last scheduled time passes, the meet-and-greet automatically disappears. A new schedule won’t be loaded until the following day. It is essential to check the app for meet-and-greets on the day of your visit.

Timeline:
- Chip and Dale formerly met at Epcot near the former Epcot Character Spot. This meet-and-greet ended in 2019.
- Chip and Dale formerly met at Magic Kingdom in Storybook Circus. In recent years, they have met in many locations in the park. We wouldn’t be surprised if they returned to this location in the future.
- The duo formerly met as Space Cadets in Tomorrowland at Magic Kingdom.
- Chip and Dale met for a limited time as Rescue Rangers at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
- The pair were part of the Mickey and Friends Cavalcade when the parks reopened from the COVID-19 closure in 2020. They also took part in the motorcades at Hollywood Studios (Mickey and Friends Motorcade) and Discovery Island Character Cruises at Disney’s Animal Kingdom during social distancing.
- They were part of Mickey’s Celebration Cavalcade for Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary. (2021-2023)
- Chip and Dale had special costumes to celebrate the Walt Disney Company’s 100th anniversary (2023)
- Chip and Dale also met in a picnic setting in a fenced area near the Hollywood Brown Derby during social distancing.
