Through the Years: Buzz Lightyear’s Character Topiary at Epcot’s Flower and Garden

Continuing our then and now look at character topiaries, I thought we’d stop in the former Future World (these days World Discovery) for a familiar favorite: Buzz Lightyear. It might be difficult to believe but the Buzz Lightyear topiary at the Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival hasn’t always been positioned in front of Mission: Space. We photographed him back in 2019 near the Purple Martin houses. At the time, he was surrounded by giant plastic crayons and a bed of golden pansies. Woody, Bo Peep, and her sheep were in a separate bed across the walkway.

Here’s what his rocket pack looks like in topiary form.

By 2021, Buzz had moved in front of the space-themed attraction. Truth be told, it’s hard to imagine a better location.

While Buzz had changed significantly before 2019, he hasn’t seen too many changes in recent years.

Here is his latest look.

Buzz Lightyear returns to this location for this year’s Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival. If you’ve enjoyed this look back, you might also like a few others in our through the years series:
