Through the Years: Mickey and Minnie Mouse’s Character Topiaries at Epcot’s Flower and Garden

It’s true. Whether it’s a hidden reference or in plain sight, you’ll find touches of Mickey Mouse almost everywhere at Walt Disney World. You just have to look for him. However, one thing you won’t have to look hard to find is his character topiary at Epcot’s International Flower and Garden Festival. He and Minnie Mouse always have a prominent location somewhere in the park. You might even find them twice. Over the years, we’ve often seen their regular topiary character forms and an additional miniature version of the pair.
As we continue our Through the Years series, we’ll start with a look at their 2019 design. They were surrounded by red, heart-shaped topiaries in their usual picnic setup.

But perhaps, the view of them facing Spaceship Earth was the best part. It was even better when the monorail passed.

Chip and Dale and Donald Duck with his nephews were busy planting seeds in the adjacent flower beds. We’ve already shared those photos in this article featuring Donald Duck’s topiaries through the years.

Here’s a closeup of Mickey and Minnie with a heart between them. I don’t recall seeing these hearts since 2019 and would love to see them return.

Mickey and Minnie also made another appearance surrounded by sunflowers in the America Pavilion in 2019.

By 2021, Epcot was in full construction mode. This was the year of the “Taste of the Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival.” Given the state of the park and the world, in general, the topiary seemed appropriate. Mickey holds a paint brush, Minnie has the paint can, and Goofy is holding a rubber mallet in the background.

Mickey also greeted guest’s at the park’s entrance this year as Sorcerer Mickey. He was part of a Fantasia-inspired welcome topiary.

By 2023, the couple had returned with a few friends to their picnic setup.

We’ll have a separate look at Pluto with Chip and Dale through the years. They tend to move around.

This year it seemed as though Mickey and Minnie Mouse were patiently waiting for the front of the park to reopen.

We also found them in miniature topiary form at Epcot’s International Gateway.

Last year, the couple were still picnicking. However, they were facing the opposite direction. Pluto had a more prominent placement.

Mickey was holding a bouquet of colorful flowers.

While the miniature topiaries weren’t available during last year’s festival, we saw a not-so-hidden Mickey featured in the landscape. The photo below was taken from the International Gateway facing the bridge between the France and United Kingdom Pavilions.

Mickey and Minnie Mouse return to the topiary lineup for 2025. For more in this series of photo posts, you might enjoy the following:
